Yes, that...it happens. More loss, I suppose. You sort of...forget, a little. Periods of not quite understanding that they're gone. It's a bit disconcerting.

Yeah. I get that.

But we get used to expecting to find someone gone too don't we? I look at the way things are and almost nothing's the same from last year

That's true, too. After a while, people leaving is just...natural, I suppose. That's what it feels like. [ It sounds bad, but he's used to it. ]

Being numb, then, might just be exhaustion. If the same thing keeps happening over and over, after a while you start to get used to that, too. Even if it hurts.
