PORTER NOTES
May. 31st, 2015 01:27 amP A T T E R N S
- imPorts from war-torn worlds / worlds that already have superheroes (chosen for the likelihood that they already know how to fight?)
- large soldier population
- pattern of personal tragedy
- America (white) / Japan; trend of big, metropolitan cities
- (visibly) approx. 13 - 40 years old
- the more imPorts from a single world, there more likely it is that more will arrive, the more likely it is that they'll stay
- ^ the above counts for alternate universes even if they don't technically count as the same world (see: my world, Kate's world)
- no visible preference between criminals and heroes, but heroes seem to outweigh the killers
- no visible preference for single timelines for people from the same world
- preference for earth, capable of taking people from other planets
- several people taken who will be dying in the near future / are dead
- this world is preferable to the world that many people are from (making themselves look good?)
- Port-outs typically last up to a few weeks. Anything after that and it's unlikely for people to come back
- The time that passes at home during a port-out seems to last up to five years maximum, as low as an hour at minimum. No patterns
- People taken from the same worlds (or versions of worlds) know each other
- High concentration of people who were already extraordinary, eg technical geniuses, soldiers who have saved the world, superheroes, engineers, etc.
- DISEASES CAN BE TRANSFERRED FROM OTHER WORLDS TO THE PORTER
- Port-outs of those who are dead = no memory of time passing
- When Ported out people sometimes get new powers
- Friends are usually ported in together, families are less common
- 20th century and up = more common, imPorts still come from as far back as the Crusades(???)
- Preference for worlds that parallel this one (cold war, separation of nations, wars, etc. are usually consistent)
- Preference for worlds with similar evolutions? technically there could be different variations of humans but so far there's usually just the one
L A C H E S I S
- Goddess that lives inside the Porter, but nobody has been able to properly contact her??
- Apparently known as Fate
- (read more about mythology)

[...he never managed this part.]
W H A T W E K N O W
- the government has no control over the Porter
- It's underneath guard all the time (considered to be too dangerous to see alone?)
- government is willing to let people see it if we follow the rules (killer paintball)
- main government Porter scientist (Moira) killed during lightning strikes (Annie). New scientist hired??
- gives the government important information on every imPort (biography, powers, etc.)
- the Porter knows about all of our histories and doesn't care?
C O N C E R N S
- Several different versions of the same world. How to make sure people get to the right one?
- If we intentionally use the Porter will we be able to choose our time point or will we be sent to the same one that we left from? What if the person from the earlier timeline tells the others? Time paradox?
- Will people be able to travel to worlds that aren't their own?
- Will dead people be able to live somewhere else?
- What happens if we change things that happened in the past of one world? Does that change everything here?
- Would it be possible to travel between worlds?
- How to prevent abuse of system? Metahumans sent to a world without metahumans = no protection from greater forces. e.g., human hurricane back home: totaled a city. People here could do worse
- How to figure out the difference between dimensional refugees and people who want to take advantage?
- How to remember what happened here back home?
- Logistics of dimensional refgees: licenses, citizenship, etc.
- Do we keep our superpowers once we go back home? Impact?
- What happens to this world's America once we leave?
