[Jaime's honestly not sure what to make of this whole conversation, not even after they've been fairly honest with each other. It's not a normal conversation for them; they're usually happy talking about smaller, happier things, about this place, about work, and their lives, and school. That's not always such a good thing, even if Jaime's happy with his comfortable relationship with Will.
