So if you're a magician you're just gonna be flat out evil?

There's no like businessmen or doctors or whatever else counts as a high paying job?

Their authority (and their right to jobs as businessmen and doctors) comes from their ability to use magic, and magic comes from enslaving spirits. It's POSSIBLE to use magic on the basis of an equal partnership with the spirits, but all of them are brainwashed to think that's not possible. If I'd been raised as a magician, I'd probably think the same way.

The imbalance would be bad in the first place even without that extra factor in there but that takes it over the top. And that's what you're fighting to change

Yeah. That's what I'm fighting to change. Not just for us commoners, either...They take kids when they're just five or six years old and train them to be slavers. Train them to be friendless, suspicious, hateful. It's for them, too - all those poor magicians who think this is the way to live. And then become doctors and businessmen and prime ministers and teach the next generation to be just like them.

It is important. But I think you could probably talk about it less too? I mean it's not good to be thinking about it ALL the time especially when you can't actually do anything about it here

Look I'm just saying that while you're here and you can't start your plan anyway it might even be better for you to try and slow down and focus on some other things for a while. That doesn't sound so unreasonable does it?

I want to. Sort of. I don't know! I've been trying to be more of a Normal Person or whatever, but I just start thinking of everything that my people are going through, and everything those poor spirits are suffering, and I just get so upset that I want to go out and DO SOMETHING. Anything. Even if it's just planning. Or venting. I probably sound perfectly mad, don't I. Pathological.

Well there's a reason you're the one who went out there and changed things.

But I mean I do think it's good that you're at least trying. You could always look at it this way. Whatever you pick up in the time that you're NOT thinking or talking about it might be able to help you in the long run

So, therefore, I should think about it less? I don't know...If I'm thinking that way, then wouldn't it make more sense to try to think about it MORE so that I can make sure that what I'm doing DOES help?

Here all you've got is time to develop other skills. It's kind of how scientists get so focused on their work that they know everything there is to know about their field and that means that they wind up missing the solutions that are really obvious to everyone else

Right, except...What I need to spend that time on is cracking the secret they have here of blocking traveling between dimensions. That's how I'll stop magic back home.

But you have an awful lot to do after that don't you?
