THE TED KORD MEMORIAL CENTRE

In the midst of one of Heropa's public parks is a two-story building titled the TED KORD MEMORIAL CENTRE, created by Jaime Reyes (with Ted Kord's money & bountiful assistance from the government) as a place of remembrance and solace for those that have been lost over the course of the years. The outside wall has numerous slots for the public and imPorts alike to hang up plaques, store flowers, and otherwise present mail, art, photographs or anything else that they wish to be accessible to the public.

The inside is a different story. In order to gain access inside the building and the adjacent garden, you must scan your imPort tattoo, ensuring privacy for those that need it. The most obvious thing when you step foot into the memorial centre is a large tree the entire building was built around, now surrounded by a circular bench. There are a small assembly of chairs and tables for imPorts to sit at with an even assembly of soft, squashy chairs, wicker chairs, couches and stools. In the entrance, there is a donations box. Half of the proceeds will go towards upkeep of the building, and half of the proceeds will go towards an imPort-run charity.

Along the East wall is a displayed digital photo album which imPorts are welcome to add onto at will. The photos will be processed at the end of each day, at which point they will be vetted by Khaji Da to ensure that nothing obscene will be displayed; this is a place for remembrance and, as such, anything that's not fit for minors to see will be denied.

There's room for other ways of imPorts memorializing others and expressing themselves. In addition to shelves and slots where people can hang plaques, leave keepsakes and flowers or display anything else they see fit, the back wall is entirely blank, meant for existing imPorts to share what they would like displayed in the event of their port-out. Suggested pieces of art include paintings, poetry, stories, photography and fabric arts, but anything within reason is allowed to be displayed!

Out back is a garden, fully decorated with trees and flowers save for one empty patch of land, where imPorts are encouraged to grow what they so please. The garden has plenty of benches available to sit on, but is otherwise just a garden; this is an area that's rife for expansion if any imPorts wish to make larger structural art to be displayed or contribute towards a fountain or other such decorations. Lanterns will be automatically turned on after nightfall each night, as the facility will be open 24/7.

Oh, Tara. Jaime has no idea what to make of her, really, but he feels a sense of heart-aching sense of sympathy and compassion for her. After years worth of missteps in several different ways, he can't help but treat her gently, afraid of pushing too far and doing nothing but chasing her away, back to being homeless and starving in the streets. All he knows is that she's a traumatized young woman who's been through hard things in her past, things that mean that she doesn't tend towards trust or, for that matter, any significant sense of self-esteem. He's not sure what hurt her - or what made her hurt everyone else, from what he's heard - but he's bound and determined to help her. He just needs to figure out how.

This is Jaime's version of Bruce Wayne and is, therefore, the one that he likes the most. He's heard plenty of bad things about Batman - and the League's various mistakes and blunders - and he knows that some of them are true, but he'll still step up to defend him. By his money, Bruce is a good man, and a deceptively kind one too, having helped rebuild Jaime's house, defeat the Reach, and done a million other little things. Make no mistake, though - Bruce can be intimidating and impenetrable, and Jaime still doesn't feel like he has much of a relationship with the man, let alone the figure.

Ah, Klarion, one of Jaime's oldest friends here in this world. Klarion is so childlike in so many ways, so unused to life here on the surface that it's hard for Jaime not to cut him some slack for his less moral endeavors - and, of course, because he's his friend. Jaime's proud of the leaps and bounds Klarion's made here, whether it's connecting with other people, friendship, or just plain old opening up and trying not to commit quite as many crimes as before. He's one of the few people Jaime feels like can actually understand him, and what it means to be attached to someone else like they are. It's a nice feeling, having someone who understands.

Jaime has a soft spot for AIs and a soft spot for Booster Gold, and those two things have collided in one shiny, adorable, metal package. It's so nice for him to have someone who's actually on the same page as him - and it's still sort of astounding to him that Skeets is so much more well-adjusted than the humans he surrounds himself with - and who he can speak honestly and openly with. He's been watching Skeets' journey to self-actualization carefully and while it's a lot slower than Khaji's, he views it with no less contentment. Skeets is on the way of finding himself in a way Jaime suspects will culminate in doing the same things he's always done, albeit for different reasons, and he hopes Skeets can hang onto that no matter who winds up in this world. He's his own bot now!

It's funny - Jaime has all of these issues about Ted, but none of them have anything to do with the man himself. Jaime had spent so long in Ted's shadow that it's hard for him not to hero worship him, but at the same time, he feels this abstract sense of responsibility to and for him, for his happiness, and to make sure that his death wasn't in vain, and that he'll do right by him. Jaime feels a lot of guilt for the fact that Max came back, and with such success, and the fact that they haven't beaten him yet weighs heavily on his shoulders. When it comes to the person himself, though, Ted's been nothing but wonderful to Jaime, admirable in his support and how staunchly he sticks to his guns (even if those guns happen to be teasing the crap out of Batman), and Jaime's incredibly proud to be working alongside him, and incredibly loyal to whatever cause he wants to take up. If Ted ever needs anything, Jaime will be there. And now for the little matter of therapy...

Diablo - or Chato - occupies a strange spot in Jaime's social circle. There's a strange sense of camaraderie with him, an understanding that he doesn't necessarily have with anyone else, but Jaime's still understandably wary around someone with such a sordid past. That being said, he trusts the guy. He thinks Diablo really has turned over a new leaf, and doubts that he would ever hurt anyone without adequate provocation. Despite his rough demeanor and his tattoos, Diablo's never actually done anything to make Jaime distrust him, and he's been a good roommate, and Jaime's liked having him around. It's just weird, that's all.

Manabu's kind of a dingus. He's a passionate, hot-blooded, reckless, helpful sort of guy, and the sort of guy Jaime suspects he would have gotten along with a lot better a couple years ago, when he was a little more like him - not that Jaime isn't still many of those traits, but he's quieter and more thoughtful now, more inclined to resignation than he's ever been before, and that's led to a bit of a clash between them. He likes Manabu well enough anyway, even if things are still a little awkward.

Jaime never really knows what to make of Chilton. He doesn't particularly like him, and whenever they talk, he feels the expanse of differences between them - Chilton is well-educated where Jaime's just getting started, a man of rich tastes and money to Jaime's proclivity for saving up and buying cheaply, someone who always seems like he has something to say and a superior air about him where Jaime is perpetually insecure. He doesn't seem like a very nice person, but... there's a humanity there, and a connection there that Jaime finds difficult to wholly ignore. Maybe it's time to get to know him a little bit better.

Will has been a constant voice of reason in this world, evidently seeing the world with clear eyes and a logical, decisive mind, not apt to fall victim to histrionics, logical fallacies to prove a point, or the faultier discourses that Jaime's heard. It makes him feel like he can trust Will's opinion on matters, even if he personally disagrees, he's always bound to learn something new. More than that, though, Will's a friend, of a sort - he's been nothing but kind and caring, willing to offer a listening ear or, at the very least, some well-needed doggo therapy. Jaime hasn't spent as much time with him lately, but his fondness hasn't abated.

Kanaya's one of those funny cases where Jaime's spoken to her a lot more as the Blue Beetle than as himself, to the point that he generally avoids speaking with her out of costume - knowing so much more as the Blue Beetle just makes it awkward. Nevertheless, he's seen her at her lowest, and he now believes that he knows her at her most stable (or as stable as she'll ever get in a place like this). They may not always see eye-to-eye, but Jaime genuinely believes that she's a good person who at least endeavors to do good, and he's happy for her and her progress.

As another one of Jaime's oldest friends here, he has a lot of affection for Laurie, and absolutely trusts her. She's gone through so much and overcome so much in her life (or, rather, her death), and he's really proud of how far she's come, and he's proud to be her friend. They're more similar than either of them could have ever guessed upon their first meeting. More than anything else, they're comfortable around each other, and that's one of the loveliest things you can be around another person.

Erik has a sordid past, but with Jaime, he's never been anything but supportive and honest and determined to do the right thing. He also has the rare quality of making Jaime feel listened to and valued, and it encourages him to share things he may not share with others. It makes him feel a little foolishly like a kid again - something he doesn't see himself as - but it's nice. He treasures their relationship.

Sarissa is the worst influence on Jaime that exists in-game. He has no idea what it is about her, but when you throw the two of them in the same room, it almost inevitably ends in food and foolishness, and Jaime finds himself being carried away with things he wouldn't ordinarily do because it seems like fun at the time - sort of like the way he is around Eddie, but Sarissa's no Eddie. He wouldn't get so carried away if they weren't such close friends, though, and he has heaps of fondness for Sarissa, disaster though she may be. She seems to be doing better lately. He hopes.

Yusuke's kind of a funny case. Jaime had initially been thrilled to meet another Persona-user, and through Yusuke's help, managed to find out that his old friends in SEES who'd been alive to begin with are still alive and well, knowledge that he treasures. But besides that, Yusuke seems kind and helpful enough, but is oddly cold, and is clearly going through an awful lot that Jaime's exposed to by virtue of living in the same house as him, but has absolutely no context for. He suspects that Yusuke's polite to him and doesn't harbour any particular dislike for him, but he doesn't think the guy particularly likes him either. It's weird.

UTENA TENJOU @ andtherevolution

Jaime's spoken to Utena enough times to get a general impression of her, though he doesn't know her all that well yet. From what he can tell, she's an intelligent, well-spoken young woman with a good head on her shoulders, a tendency for philosophizing, and a general disposition towards good. He likes her an awful lot, and wouldn't mind getting to know her a little better - and hopefully whatever's been going on in her life to make her so thoughtful will chill out, just a little.

Archie Andrews is the one person that makes Jaime lean back and say to himself: oh my god, I'm old. He often wonders if Peacemaker felt the same way with him that he feels about Archie. He thinks that Archie's a great kid, eager to help and eager to do good, but he worries about his naivete and the fact that he doesn't know what he's doing - and that he's going to get himself killed. It makes Jaime a little nostalgic for more innocent days, but he's just determined to keep him safe. And if Archie ever runs into trouble while moonlighting as a hero - well, Jaime's prepared to take responsibility for that.

Kaneki's a mess. Jaime's known him for so long now, through his humble beginnings, to his life as Sasaki, and now the him that he is now, but through it all, his life's been tough. Kaneki seems to do his best to try to do good and be good - and generally succeeds - but there's an unhappines and a darkness in him that's wholly earned, but also beyond Jaime's comprehension. He reaches out on occasion, but suspects that Kaneki will never open up to him - he just hopes Kaneki will find someone who will understand him in the way he deserves.

Jaime doesn't know Elena very well yet, but what he does know about her reminds him extremely strongly of just about every other journalist he's met here. She's bold and intelligent and probably a little too ballsy for her own good (and remarkably resilient!). Jaime can respect the hell out of that, and out of her. He just hopes it doesn't backfire on her one day.

Persephone's a hard nut to crack, that's for darn sure. Jaime knows that there's a good person in there, he knows it, underneath all of that bluster and horrible luck (and short lifespans) and, well, alarming tendency to lash out at other people. He can't get a finger on where Persephone's at, not necessarily because she's a goddess, but because she's the antithesis of him: artistic and emotional and volatile and abstract and passionate and angry. Jaime just can't quite figure her out, but she has shown him and others enough bouts of unexpected kindness for him to want to get to know her better. They're on their way.

Wally West has the dubious honour of being Jaime's best friend here in MOM. Wally probably knows him the best out of everyone, which means that they've fought far, far more than Jaime's actually fought with the people he actively dislikes. Still, they're friends for a reason; Jaime absolutely adores Wally and enjoys his company, whether it consists of lounging around and watching crap TV or going on patrol. More than that, he trusts him with knowledge about his life, about what he's capable of, about what he fears. They've seen each other at their best, and at their worst. Jaime would do pretty much anything for Wally -- and wishes that he could. There's just that little issue of him dying that's stuck in his head...

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Wally West enjoys the overconsumption of < junk food > that is a harmful influence on my host. He enjoys emoticons. He is very loud and becomes angry easily. He is the frequent cause of great distress for Jaime Reyes under which circumstances I dislike him. Overall, he is not a threat. He is my friend.

If Wally's Jaime's best friend, then the younger speedster is his brother. Bart's the source of at least half of Jaime's current insecurities, the idea that he'll go evil, the idea that he's capable of utter destruction, and the fact that Wally's going to die in the future. He feels absolutely no resentment towards him, though, and loves Bart through thick and thin, through his grinning manias and the quiet calm of when he lets his real self trickle on through. Jaime worries about Bart a lot, and doesn't quite know what to do about it, but he'll be there for him through thick and through thin.

Jaime is completely crazy about Traci, and has finally managed to muster the courage to tell her that he loves her. Much to his giddy delight, she said it back! She's beautiful, funny, kind, courageous, powerful, and as it turns out? A huge dork. There's nothing he doesn't love about that. The more he learns about her, the more he learns how similar they are, and how troubled her life has been... but that's done nothing but strengthen things. This is not how he saw his first infatuation going. It scares him a little, but in a nice way.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: SEVERE. Traci Thirteen is able to kill us. She causes hormonal changes, heart rate acceleration, spontaneous outbursts of affection from Jaime Reyes. Jaime Reyes often queries: "Isn't she great?", becomes angry when I answer. It is very strange. She is acceptable.

MICHAEL JON CARTER / BOOSTER GOLD @ you_tried

Booster Gold is basically the one senior hero he turns to when he needs someone who he trusts 100% not to judge him. Jaime's actually a lot more protective over Booster than he's willing to admit, and believes that he really is a hero, even if nobody else treats him like one. Booster's the guy he can go to if he needs to tell someone he can take over the world, but he can trust the guy to just trade inane texts back and forth if he just needs someone to mess around with too. He's had some problems with him in the past, but now that they've cleared the air, Jaime's glad to have him on his side. Just recently, Jaime's learned that there's even more to Booster than what meets the eye. He has no idea what to do with that kind of information yet, but... he'll get there.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat assessment: Low. Jaime Reyes trusts him. Booster Gold exhibits an acceptable level of protectiveness over Jaime Reyes; no desire to harm him. He is acceptable.

BRUCE WAYNE / BATMAN @ chiroptophobic

Jaime doesn't like Batman. He likes his Batman, sure, but he's not so sure about this one. The only time that Bats deigned to speak with him was to demand Kryptonite out of nowhere, and then he went around being an asshole over the network about that whole Crane ordeal. What's that guy's problem? Jaime privately thinks that his Batman is way better.

They started off as housemates, but somewhere down the line, Jaime and Shinji became close friends, even if they spent some weekends doing little more than grunting at each other. Shinji has his problems, has grappled with suicidal ideations and a monster inside of himself, with the kid whose mother he'd inadvertently killed, and all Jaime wants to do is help, though he knows that his capacity to help is limited. Sometimes they talk about it, and sometimes they just sit around in each other's company, and that's okay. There are few others Jaime would rather sit around with.

On the face of it, Minato ought to be cool, because he's good at pretty much everything and has everyone looking up to him, but Jaime just sees this odd, dorky guy that he's got bucketloads of respect for.

It's become easier and easier for Jaime to see how truly odd Minato is, these days. He doesn't understand things the way others do, and he's uncommunicative about himself to a fault. Jaime's hoping to continue nudging him in the right direction, to acknowledge how important Minato is divorced of what he can do, and with Minato moving in, that quest may be getting a little easier.

At the core of him there's a great kid, and a good person, one that Jaime respects even if he went off the rails a little bit. Jaime's agreed to train him in superheroics, which is something that he's honestly terrified of screwing up, especially knowing what he does about superheroes' mortality rates. Hiro's a tough one, because when he suffers a setback, he either lashes out or recedes into himself, and it's impossible for anyone to be able to talk to him. Hopefully they can at least avert one tragedy in the kid's life.

It's a pretty maddening state of affairs, but it's a sacrifice Jaime's willing to make.

All he can do is be there for her and hope for the best.

It's easy to tell how different Joaquin is from Manolo even just by looking at the guy, but that hasn't made him any less friendly. He enjoys Joaquin's company, and he can't lie -- it's a little entertaining watching him attempt to navigate a very, very 21st century occupation knowing that the guy's a soldier through and through, with the eyepatch to prove it. Though speaking of the eyepatch... Jaime knows that there's more to the guy than meets the eye, what with his mysterious past with invulnerability and his very, very dead friend. He's got a protective streak a mile long, and a past that suggests why he is that way, but Jaime hopes he can find a little peace, one day. Until then, he knows Joaquin is a good, loyal friend, and he's glad to have him.

(Being superior to him due to intellect, ability, compassion... that's another story.) Still, she's not a bad person. Just an annoying one.

Robin's kind of uptight and neurotic, with more issues than either would like to admit, but he's funny and bright too. Jaime can see why Wally loved the guy so much.

Having Booster in the vicinity certainly helped, but even more than that, Power Girl kind of acts momish sometimes. It's surprising, and more than a little funny, but mostly, it's endearing. Lately, they've gotten a lot closer, and learned a little bit about each other -- and about how they see the heroing gig. There's still a lot Jaime would like to know about her, but he knows one thing: she's a good person, no matter what name she's wearing.

Even more than that, he can feel a connection with Klarion now, a connection that he doesn't have with anyone else: Klarion knows what it's like to be deeply attached to someone else in the same way that Jaime is attached to Khaji. There's a lot to be said for common ground, and now that they're being mostly honest with each other, he feels a lot closer to him now.

Jaime's always been the elder child, but if he ever had an older brother, he'd want him to be like Kaidan. He's not sure what they are, in this nebulous territory between brothers, teacher-and-student, and friends, but he likes it well enough. Kaidan's a little awkward, and he's not so great with feelings, but Jaime knows that he's a good man, even through all of the problems he's had. Jaime trusts him with his life, and wants nothing but happiness for him, and couldn't be gladder that they're still in each other's lives even after Kaidan moved out. Kasumi sometimes compares him to Kaidan like it's a bad thing, but honestly, he's always a little pleased by it. He could do worse than to be like Kaidan Alenko. Kaidan's been with him through thick and thin, and had his back even when he was having what could be frankly called a meltdown. Jaime doesn't know what he did to gain the loyalty and respect of a guy like Kaidan, but he's not arguing it; there's no mistaking that he's enriched his life.

Kaidan might be like Jaime's big brother, but while Jaime's not so sure about that one, he knows he sees Ken as his little brother. He loves spending time with him, and he loves teasing him. He puts time out of his week to eat meals with Ken, to teach him soccer and to just spend time goofing off. Jaime himself doesn't even know how this solemn little kid wormed his way into his life, but it happened. Of course, it's impossible to ignore that Ken's possibly even more troubled than Shinji, and has caused Jaime no end of heartbreak, but he's determined that they'll get through it together. He's got so much love and respect for Ken, he can't imagine it ending any other way. Now, he knows that the feeling's mutual; Ken has openly called Jaime - Jaime Reyes, not the Blue Beetle - a hero, his hero, and that's something Jaime will carry with him for a good, long time.

Ken's suffered many losses, but he seems to be bouncing back better than before. More importantly, he's surrounded with people who love him, people who have nothing to do with Jaime, and that gives him faith that if one day, Jaime's the one who gets ported out, Ken will recover. Ken's doing well, all things considered, but Jaime will always worry -- and has even hijacked someone else to the cause.

Jaime knows that Will technically died a killer, but when he died taking down a cannibal serial killer... well. He has a hard time faulting him for that. Jaime's own secret has been compromised as well in the most embarrassing way (he totally pet Will while he was naked, why), and while Jaime thinks that must have changed things, he's not sure how yet. He's got his fingers crossed.

He's started to get to know her better than just as this mysterious spectre that teases him, however; she has a lot of kindness in her heart, and has a reluctance to admitting her own emotional ties, but they exist as strongly as they do for anyone else.

Magicman is profoundly strange. He's clearly extremely close with Tadashi (Hiro thinks that they're dating, but Jaime doesn't think that that's how it works), for which he's grateful. Tadashi deserves a good friend, and all in all, Magicman seems like a nice guy. He also seems a little distant at times, though, and then there's that whole deal with his professed criminal history. Still, every single time he sees Magicman, he's staunch in his beliefs, and willing to help out all he can. Magicman isn't great at taking care of himself - which is enough to make him worry a little, frankly - but there's no arguing that he has a good heart.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: low. Magicman interrupted a conversation between Jaime Reyes and myself. He proceeded to stay after he interrupted. I do not understand why Jaime Reyes has chosen the company of another AI. I am sufficient. Magicman is inferior to me. I do not like him.

Kotetsu is a good man. That much, Jaime's certain of. Whether or not he's a well-adjusted man is up for grabs, though. He sees that Kotetsu is often emotional, deals with aforesaid emotions through drinking, and upon trying to console Jaime, wound up looking devastated on his own. Even if he's a little overemotional, though, Jaime likes him just fine. He's a good person, and he cares about people, which means he's a good hero too. He just hopes that Kotetsu's going to be okay.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: low. Kotetsu T. Kaburagi has not caused Jaime considerable distress. He has a distrust of AI technology. He is acceptable.

Kitty's something of an odd case for Jaime, especially now that she knows his secret ID. He likes her. He likes her a lot, and thinks that she's talented, and clever, and a better speaker than he'll ever be... but she's reckless, with odd ideas about justice, and an alarming tendency to argue herself blue in the face before charging ahead and doing something anyway.

Just one aspect of aforementioned charging ahead happened to result in her death, which makes any prior arguments seem like they really don't matter -- and they don't, not to him, not anymore. He worries about her, hopes that she'll make smarter decisions in the future, but he knows he can't stop her. All he can do is back her up, and he will.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: SEVERE. Of no threat to journal, continued threat to my ability to care for him. Kitty Jones has demonstrated recklessness, thoughtlessness; has caused Jaime Reyes distress. Strategies are unsound. I do not trust her.

So here's the thing about Jacob: he's close to people Jaime's close to. Not only does he live with some of his best friends in the entire game, but he's a part of Shepard, Kaidan, and Kasumi's crew. That makes Jacob's business Jaime's business in a way. And really, he doesn't dislike the guy. He thinks that Jacob has his heart in the right place, and that he wants to do the right thing. That's good. That's commendable. That's respectable. The only thing is, between Archangel and Jacob's own admittance of having joined what is effectively a terrorist chapter out of a desire to do good, Jaime's not entirely certain whether or not Jacob's got the sort of strategic mind to go with his convictions. He likes him, he just hopes he's careful in the future... and that none of his poor choices wind up backfiring on the people he cares about.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: low. Jacob Taylor has not caused Jaime any immediate distress. He has acted rashly in the past. He is acceptable.

BARNABY BROOKS JR. @ attainment

Barnaby is Kotetsu's partner, and personally, Jaime figures that he's one that Kotetsu could probably use. While Barnaby has spoken of Kotetsu doing a lot for him - something that Jaime in no way doubts, considering the generosity of the man - he can't help but see the stark differences between the two; while Kotetsu flies off the handle and gets emotional easily, Barnaby is even, measured, polite, and seems to look at things logically. Honestly, Jaime appreciates that in a guy, and appreciates it even more in someone that he may well have to work with in the future. He doesn't know him too well as a person, but Barnaby seems nice enough, and honestly, Jaime quite likes him. He's glad he and Kotetsu have each other.

MANOLO SANCHEZ @ matadorable

Jaime doesn't know Manolo that well yet, but as it stands, he likes the guy an awful lot. There was an immediate connection between Jaime, Manolo and Joaquin right off the bat by virtue of culture alone - and it's a relief to meet another imPort who speaks the same language, for which the same things actually resonate with - but he's gotten to like Manolo on his own merits too. He wants to go out there and live his dream as a musician, which Jaime respects, and he does it all with a smile. Manolo's a very warm, friendly person, and he's definitely the sort of person Jaime's able to feel immediately at ease with. There is one complication, however, and that's the usual one: Manolo is dead twice over, and Jaime's worried about how the first one went down. Manolo could cut it any way he wants, but as far as Jaime's concerned, it was suicide. Manolo's gotten to know Jaime a whole lot better too, and has been nothing but considerate and understanding. Jaime feels fortunate to consider him a friend.

It takes a special sort of guy to reassure a virtual stranger with a smile after re-experiencing the deaths of two of his friends, though Jaime's not verbalized as much. He's determined to keep an eye out for him, and make sure that he's okay too.

The guy who dubbed Jaime an imaginary friend, Jaime's found their (non-existent) relationship escalating once Minato disappeared. In a bout of panic, Jaime's recruited him in Ken Watching duty, and Kaneda rose to the occasion with the sort of aplomb that takes him through child-care books, for which Jaime's grateful. And what of the man himself? He's an odd one. He inspires loyalty from those around him, big and small, but he doesn't seem to take much seriously unless he has to either. That, and he does whatever he decides he wants to, no questions asked. That takes a special kind of person.

Sarissa is, more or less, Jaime's really weird neighbour. She's pleasant and acerbic in equal measures (though never to Jaime), and he met her when she broke into his house... and then he offered her dinner, as you do. Their relationship has grown without them really doing anything of actual note with each other instead of joking around more and more. Jaime's never had a big sister before, but that's the kind of relationship that they have. The jokes part of it anyway; they still have a lot to learn about each other.

It's a bit odd talking with her when they're from such different backgrounds, but he likes her anyway -- he simply feels that he doesn't quite know her.

Jaime has no idea what to do with Kanaya. She's clearly a bitter, angry person, but not for no reason at all. She's had a hard life, made harder still by Norman Osborn (though he still can't prove it), and carries even the sins she's not responsible for on her own shoulders. Jaime really wants to help her, but he's not sure how, because she doesn't make helping her easy. Lately, he's run into her as Echidna, and he's starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for her -- she's trying her best to do good, and she's trying to finally get some closure. Is she healthy? No. But maybe there's still hope for her yet.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: moderate. Kanaya Maryam has demonstrated a willingness to harm Jaime Reyes. She is violent and erratic. Her behaviour is illogical. Jaime Reyes believes that she is deserving of a second chance. I do not trust her. I dislike her. Action taken while fighting should have been more severe.

Things with Riku are, admittedly, a little messy. Riku's dating Minato, which immediately makes Riku Jaime's business. Jaime knows that Minato wouldn't be aware of if he was or wasn't being treated right in a relationship, and that makes him a little more overbearing than he would be otherwise, a little more protective. Unfortunately, digging into Riku's past didn't manifest itself in such a way that Jaime could simply be relieved that there was nothing to worry about. On the contrary; while Jaime may not be as worried about Minato, it turns out Riku did some seriously bad things to Roxas, a kid that seems to have deserved better in every avenue of his life. Maybe Riku seems fine otherwise, if not a little quiet and reticent, but Jaime can't help but be wary of him nonetheless. Maybe they can be friends eventually - and he's gratified to know that Riku doesn't bother justifying his past actions - but it's made things a little weird nonetheless.

KHAJI DA'S ASSESSMENT: Threat level: low. Riku has not caused Jaime Reyes any immediate distress. Riku has caused an acquaintance of Jaime Reyes great distress. Jaime Reyes does not trust him. I do not either.

HAISE SASAKI / KEN KANEKI @ dualismum

Oh, Sasaki... or Kaneki. Jaime can't decide what to call him. Either way, poor Sasaki has one of the shittiest lives out there, which is saying a lot for the type of company Jaime keeps. More than anything else, Jaime feels a great deal of compassion for him, and he worries, worries about Ken, and worries about Sasaki. He has no doubts that the guy's done some bad things, but his hand always seems to be forced. Maybe one day, he hopes that he's able to find some semblance of happiness.

Um... hey. I got ported out a couple weeks ago, but apparently things went south while I was gone.

It looks like the whole cure thing is under wraps now, but I read something about a dragon attack on top of it all? Seems like we should be lending a hand, so if anyone's gotten started on helping out with any of the areas that need it, let me know? I can at least do what I can there. [He frowns. It doesn't sound like it'd been a ball around here, but he feels bad for his absence anyway.]

...anyway, there's a bunch of people I need to check in with, so let me know if you're okay? I think you guys all know who you are.

I really wish I got back to you about this before I wound up being ported out, but I managed to get the report. There's some head trauma in there, and they said that either she took a heavy spill or got hit hard enough to snap her neck. There's no DNA on there, and they had some assumptions to make about how big the guy was, but if it was an imPort like you think it was, we could be looking at anything.

That's about it, honestly. I know that's not much help; it seems like the legal route's as lost as we are.

Milagro sits on the couch in a tiny ball wrapped in a blanket, a perfect picture of misery with her red nose and bleary eyes, hair bands long since yanked out, and hair framing a messy halo around her head. She stares up at Jaime, and seems to endeavor to sniffle as loudly and as long as possible. Jaime leans over the back of the couch, resting his chin on his forearms, and notes, “You’re disgusting.”

“Am not,” she mutters in return, but Jaime just shakes his head.

“Yeah, you are. Go on, blow your nose instead. I’m gonna make you some soup, ‘kay?” He reaches over to push some of her mussed hair away from her forehead, feeling for her temperature, before pushing off the couch and wandering his way over to the kitchen, but not before he hollers behind him: “Drink! That water bottle better be empty by the time Mom comes home!”

Making soup just winds up being Jaime emptying a can into a pot and heating it over the stove, but it’s a good sight better than what Milagro could do, particularly on the account that when she’s sick, she manages to look approximately two years younger, twenty pounds tinier, and ten times more pitiful than the little monster she usually is. He drops a couple ice cubes into the broth as he carries it over to her and as he places it on the coffee table in front of her, he grabs the television remote. Milagro looks like she’s about to protest, but wordlessly, Jaime flicks the channel, and she relaxes as My Little Pony starts playing.

They’re technicolour, and shrill, and in Jaime’s opinion, honestly kind of horrible. “I get to choose what to watch next time I’m sick,” he points out.

“All your shows suck,” she says right back, which means she must be feeling better, but not that great, because the minute she finishes her soup, she’s back on the couch, and leaning flat against Jaime’s side. It honestly doesn’t take her too long to fall asleep after that, but the only problem there is that she’s crushing his arm, and he can’t quite manage to reach the remote after that. He reaches desperately for it with his free arm a little, but once he jostles Milagro too much, she stirs, and he gives up. My Little Pony, it is. This is his life now. His bright, exceptionally high-pitched life.

Once he hears the door open, he shushes whoever it is that’s coming in, and lo and behold, it’s his mother tip toe-ing in, still in her scrubs, hair pulled out of her face. “New favourite show?” She teases as she reaches past him to rest one hand on Milagro’s forehead. Jaime rolls his eyes. He’s not sure she saw it, so he waits for her to look at him again, and rolls them again, which earns him a swat across his head.

"When's Dad coming home?"

"Soon," she says, mouth twisting into a frown. "Luis skipped his shift again. Your father's covering it." She raises one hand, stopping him from voicing the discontent on his breath (just fire him, already, he's about to say, and his mouth is open to say it) and says, "I know. Not now, mijo."

He may not be entirely happy about it, but he obeys. Instead, he contemplates the fact that his arm is rapidly getting awfully damp.

“This is really gross,” he whispers to her, looking pointedly at where Milagro is showing off the talent of being really snotty and really drooly all at the same time, all over his arm. It’s a testament to true love that he’s not squealing and pushing her off him right now.

“Ye-es,” his mom agrees, and when she starts to walk away and into the kitchen to get some food for Milagro that didn’t make its way sludging slowly out of a can, he tilts his head back as far as he can, eyes wide with alarm.

“Mom!” He hisses as loudly as he dares. “Mom! Pass me the remote! Mom, I know you can hear me!”

She can. He swears he hears her laughing.

May: Two imPort events were attacked. The swearing-in ceremony at Nonah was probably attacked by the Hornets. Explosives were planted underneath the new Monorail and were left behind in a message painted on the sidewalk saying WE DID IT BETTER. The press blamed the attack on an earthquake.

An imPort seminar was held in Hawaii. It was attacked by 10 mechanical sharks, and reports say that they killed four people and injured 10. Reports also say that the sharks were part of a Soviet attack.

June: The government held a virtual paintball contest, Registered vs. Unregistered. The winners were promised to be shown the Porter. It was advertised as a team building exercise, but being shot by the paintballs felt a whole lot like actually dying. The government made no comment.

July: NASA released a shuttle launch, but it was interrupted by Soviet spies and it turned out the shuttle was sabotaged. Everyone on the shuttle made it out okay despite the fact that they had power nullifiers up there, and the spies were caught. It was leaked that the spies weren’t given a trial.

July: A summer camp for teenaged imPorts was interrupted by kidnappers where they were held with power nullifiers and forced to fight against mutated animals and technology. They were broken out by a rescue crew. The explosion and deaths were explained by the press as a volcanic eruption.

October: A Halloween fair was held in Maine, and the Hornets attacked and attempted to kidnap imPorts using portable power nullifiers. No imPorts were actually kidnapped, and several Hornets were seized by the police.

Bombs exploded simultaneously in Orlando, Florida and Sofia, Bulgaria in several locations. ImPorts went to help at both locations, more in Florida than in Bulgaria (only so much of us can teleport/fly). The US press was angry with those of us who went to Bulgaria, and Bulgaria's press was angry that more of us didn't come to help out. That's why Bulgaria's borders are closed to imPorts.

November: A file leak is done based on the government's files on imPorts even though a lot of the information was wrong. The source was a man working for the FBI.

January: The Hornets attack again. They got access to mind control technology. The first attack happened when imPorts were struck by lightning and started to believe that they were different people but nothing violent really happened.

February: The first ever imPort Ambassador elections were held. Ira Gamagori, Mitchell Hundred and Revan became Ambassadors of Nonah, De Chima, and Maurtia Falls.

The Hornets bomb Heropa's prison and try to rob a bunch of generators so that they can get their hands on null tech. Afterwards one imPort who tried to infiltrate the Hornets on her own got captured and one team of imPorts wound up storming the Hornet's base while the others stopped the generators from getting stolen. There were mass arrests and as of now the Hornets are considered to be disbanded.

A second lightning strike attack happened, but this time, imPorts believed that they were Hornets instead and began to attack other imPorts and the government. One imPort attacked Cape Canaveral and several government workers there were killed.

April: An imPort named Solf J. Kimblee plants bombs in an airport in New York, but imPorts find and deactivate the bombs before they can go off.

One imPort is ported in carrying a virus from his home world. This virus first changes the infected's personality and turns them aggressive before they eventually die. Heropa is quarantined, but one infected imPort storms Nonah, causing mass property damage and a dozen deaths. ImPorts create a cure quickly, but twenty more natives die.

May: An imPort named Melkor raises an undead army and sets fire to two blocks in Maurtia Falls, but imPorts fight back the attack and take down Melkor for arrest.

An imPort named Hank Pym accidentally creates and releases flesh eating monsters into the city of Nonah. They're taken down by imPorts, but 23 natives are killed.

June: An imPort named Lucifer lets loose several threats.

1) ImPorts began to fall asleep en masse for three days. For these three days they were trapped in a shared nightmare. There were no permanent effects.

2) ImPorts began to see others as threats and started to attack others. Seven were killed.

3) ImPorts began to lose their inhibitions. Nobody was killed, but people did wind up kissing other people a lot.

As of now, Lucifer still hasn't been caught.

July: ImPort files were leaked again, this time during a press conference at the Swear-In. It was mostly exaggerated propaganda on how dangerous and unpredictable imPorts are and how the public shouldn't trust us. The government went on record saying that it was an attack by soviet spies.

August: Another Swear-In is attacked, this time by an imPort named Jonathan Crane. He released a gas on the premises that made everyone there have severe hallucinations, both natives and imPorts. 75 natives were killed and approx. 300 more were injured. As of now, Crane is currently being pursued.

Ex-roomie. Jaime's particularly fond of Shinjiro, prickliness aside - he's fun to shoot the shit with, has a kickass snake, is a fantastic cook, and was cool about it when Jaime erroneously assumed he and Akihiko were dating. Shinji kind of knows about Jaime's secret ID after a mishap with the Scarab, and has been remarkably chill about it. Jaime's very much aware that the dude's dead, but has completely avoided the subject. EDIT: They've now had a serious talk about death, and have slowly progressed into broing it up something fierce. Jaime now considers Shinjiro one of his best friends in this particular universe. If he wants to hassle someone with stupid text messages, this is one of the guys he goes to.

Jaime is inordinately fond of Ellie, and is actually a bit surprised at how rapidly he grew to like her - he may be slow to make close friends, but she's surprisingly easy to talk to. Despite having a terrible past - much like the rest of Heropa - Jaime thinks of her as a very sweet woman, and one he likes to make laugh. If anything happens to her, they'll have one very angry superhero to reckon with. EDIT: Ellie now knows who Jaime is in both masks, and... that hasn't changed much! He is still incredibly fond of her, and considers her to be one of his closest friends here - almost like an older sister, if he ever had one.

Roomie. Kaidan seems like a pretty serious guy to Jaime, but he's surprisingly approachable for a telekinetic space soldier from the future - funnily enough, Kaidan reminds him a lot of the soldiers from home too. Some things never change! Jaime's fond enough of him, even if he doesn't know a whole lot about the guy beyond the fact that he's Canadian, apparently has a hidden anti-authoritarian streak, and eats like he's permanently stoned. UPDATE; Kaidan (and Shepard) have included Jaime in some of the discussions about their investigations, something that Jaime's grateful for. He really does like Kaidan. Having him around makes Heropa seem a lot more normal, and helps it feel more like home... even if he's awkward as hell. Jaime's asked Kaidan to train him in case the power nullification collars come back into play, and he's agreed. Kaidan may not know it, but he's one of the people here that Jaime very much wants to make proud.

Kid Flash from another universe. Jaime started off their correspondence cagey and nervous, mostly because he thought that Wally was dead, but hey - alternate universes! He's super not dead! That little bit of awkwardness aside, Jaime likes Wally. He's irreverent and entertaining - and reminds him a bit of Paco - which means that he can text him pretty much whenever he's bored. It's also a bit of a relief to have another cape around that knows his secret ID, even if it happened in the most hilariously stupid way. UPDATE: Wally is now aware of everything about the Reach, both in Jaime's world and in Bart's. Jaime has a lot of sympathy for him and his Team for having to deal with it, and despite the fact that it's underneath Dick's leadership, he reflexively thinks of the Team as Wally's. It's Wally he always gives a heads-up to whenever shit goes down, and that's not a choice he's had any reason to regret. Things were a little awkward for a while - on Jaime's side, anyway - but Wally hasn't treated him any differently post-discovery. He's grateful for that. They've become extremely good friends and text each other like the complete idiots that they are. He has a lot of respect for Wally and what he does, and counts him among his fondest friends... it's just a shame that he dies too.

Neighbour. Kotetsu's got the goofy dad thing downpat, complete with blustering overprotectiveness and the conviction that he's right. Jaime doesn't think that the goofy dad persona is a lie, but Kotetsu's got more shit to deal with than he's let on - between his dead wife, the fact that he's jacked, and the time Jaime found him wandering around drunk, he's got some issues to work through. UPDATE: Secret IDs have been swapped, and Jaime now knows that Kotetsu is Wild Tiger, and his aforesaid issues have to do with impotence in the face of tragedy. That being said? Not much has changed! He's still a goofy dad figure, just one that's a little more proactive than he had initially thought.

Happily, he seems to have achieved just that, and Power Girl's been nothing but kind to him every time they've teamed up. She's a little intimidating, but he likes her, and he can see why Ted liked her too.

Jaime has no idea what to do about Bart Allen. He A: knows a version of him that apparently went all Reachy and slave-drivery, B: is apparently best friends with him in his own universe anyway, and C: is keeping both A & B secret from the others in his universe kicking around in Heropa. These facts combined with Bart's larger than life personality make him a tricky person to figure out, but Jaime remains cautiously optimistic; if one version of him is best friends with the guy, then he should make an effort to be friendly too, right...? UPDATE: Jaime still has no idea what to do about Bart, but he has a lot more context now. He has a good idea of at least half the crap that Bart went through, and that he's both more mature and less adjusted than he wants to look. Jaime worries about him, and more than that, he feels protective over him; Bart deserves to be held accountable when he screws up, but he also doesn't deserve undue negative attention for things that are beyond his control. He doesn't know what Bart thinks of him half the time, but for better or for worse, they're friends. They're good friends. Jaime's just not sure how that happened.

Aww yeah, more teenaged friends! Jaime likes Laurie quite a bit for how little he knows her - honestly, he thinks she's pretty adorable, and in more ways than one. The fact that she's a pretty blonde aside, her shyness and self-confessed love of reading have endeared her to him. UPDATE: Jaime has learned that, surprise! Laurie is dead too! This is a trend! Either way, his fondness for her has only skyrocketed since then. He thinks she's a genuinely good soul, and seeing her try to move on with her life has made him unspeakably proud. He's happy to have gotten to know her.

Jaime was introduced to Shepard only as Kaidan's friend, but he hit it off with him right off the bat. Jaime trusts Kaidan's judgment, which was a point in Shepard's favour, but once the man included him in discussions about tracking down spy activity, Shepard rocketed up in Jaime's esteem. He appreciates being treated as intelligent, and as being treated like his opinions and thoughts matter. Since then, Shepard's been hanging around, mooching food, giving Jaime rides and teaching him how to cook. Combine that with Jaime's respect for a military man, and you've got someone Jaime really likes and respects.

Ah, Booster. Jaime's got something of a love-hate relationship with Booster, which he himself isn't aware of, and Booster sure as hell isn't aware of it. Most of the time, Jaime really likes Booster. He's irreverent and funny, and more importantly, stepped in to save Jaime's life when he really needed it - that alone means that he implicitly trusts the man, even if he does seem a little silly much of the time. Jaime's repressed the part that he dislikes about Booster, which is pretty obvious: Booster hasn't been around. Booster gave Jaime his name, brought him into space, and then essentially left him alone until he was already in the heart of the Reach's headquarters, which is a little painful, but not as painful as the fact that Booster never came back to the Reyes home to tell them that their son didn't run, that he died for a cause that was good and just and that they ought to be proud. Considering that Booster is the one who brought him out there in the first place, that's a bit of a sore spot. UPDATE: Booster is now one of Jaime's bros, and he's not entirely sure how that happened. He doesn't think Booster knows either, but they just kind of roll with it. Booster's the guy who knows where Jaime's from, knows how strong he is, and understands if all he really wants is someone to complain to. A guy needs that in his life. He knows that if he said the word, Booster would be there in an instant, but as it is? He's willing to let Jaime take care of himself. That means a lot, and means that lucky Booster is privy to more information about Jaime's life than most.

It's pretty hard to spook Jaime. In his time in Heropa, only one other person has successfully scared him, and that's because of his powers, not because of his personality. Hisoka, on the other hand, seriously unnerves Jaime. He sets off his fight-or-flight reaction, and it won't be a surprise if Jaime's immediate reaction to him in the future is to immediately try to punch him in the face - that's how much Hisoka gets undernath Jaime's skin. If being a crazy clown killer wasn't enough, Hisoka is overtly sexual in the way that he moves and talks, and just the way he looks at Jaime sends shivers down his spine. No thank you.

Jaime doesn't know much about M'gann yet, which means that though he of all people knows how alternate universes work, he's already disposed towards liking her. Back home, M'gann was one of the first people on the Titans who made him feel welcome right off the bat without scaring the living daylights out of him. He thinks that the version he knows is an utter sweetheart, and judging by her adorable Halloween party for charity, this M'gann seems just as nice. Wally seems pretty sweet on her too, which means that she's vouched for by someone he trusts. Not a bad first impression!

Jaime only got to meet Ted the one time, but honestly, he had a positive impression of him long, long before he got to meet him. Jaime absolutely idolizes the man based on everything he's heard of him - WWTKD, right? - and from their solitary meeting, he hasn't been persuaded not to. Ted took his presence in stride, gave him his blessing to continue acting as the Blue Beetle, and even more exciting than that, offered to have Jaime around when he started remaking the Bug. Put all that together, and you've got one fanboy walking on air. UPDATE: There is no update. Months later, Jaime's still all holy shit, ted kord, life is amazing. Ten for you, Teddy.

Jaime thinks he's pretty splendid, actually. He's a lot of fun to hang out with, and even if they wind up bitching at each other half the time, he doesn't seem to have much of a genuinely mean bone in his body. He's dealing with some weird crap back home (vampires? Vampires right before WWII? This super messed up bloodline? What?), but they don't... seem to talk about it much.

Kay's an eternally peppy girl around Jaime's age, and certainly someone he's rarely seen without a smile on her face and a skip in her step. He doesn't think all that much about her, but he certainly likes her; she's a lot of fun! Ugh, this guy. In retrospect, Jaime can understand any self respecting superhero's alarm when faced with someone their magical doodad insists is 'worse than Darkseid', but the two of these didn't really get off to a good start. It all started when Hal came bashing on Jaime's door because he felt there was a threat held within, and... okay, Jaime could have dealt with it better than being pissy in his general direction and closing the door on him, but there's something to be said for panic. Since then, they have come to a cautious understanding - as well as a mutual knowledge of each other's secret IDs - and Hal exists in this weird nebulous place as his neighbour. Hal's okay. He supposes.

Okay, backpedal, because Traci's certainly more than just some hot girl (which would still, in Jaime's mind, be pretty freaking incredible). He doesn't know her too well yet - something he seeks to change - but everything he knows is positive. She's funny and smart and independent and heroic, and wow, Traci. He really hopes he doesn't screw this up somehow, because even without knowing much, she makes him smile, and he thinks that he makes her smile too. They're just kids, so that's enough for now, right? (Also: totally willingly makes out with him. Amazing.)

As Kanaya, she's one of the denizens of the City, argumentative over the network, certainly, but by no means a bad person. He saw that for himself when she laboured in Bulgaria to help the victims of the bombings, just like him. Hobgoblin, on the other hand, is a nasty, sharp-toothed supervillain prone to kidnapping people, and one that Kanaya has recently admitted to being. Something about that just doesn't add up...

Akihiko's a big old weirdo. Hilariously enough, Jaime considers Shinji to be the more normal of the two, but he quite likes the guy anyway. He's got a zest for working out, and he seems to miss the joys in intentionally watching bad movies, but hell, he's good for Shinji, and Jaime's willing to bet that Shinji's good for him in return. More than anything, he seems like a good guy. He's more than happy to have him around for their regular hang outs. Who knows? Maybe Akihiko will learn a thing or two about relaxing and... not doing squats on the way home. A guy can dream, right?

In all honesty, Jaime hadn't ever expected to like Maria as much as he does. She presented herself as something of a serious soul at first, cranky with the affairs of the 21st century and longing for a past spent as a soldier in the crusades. On the surface, there wasn't much to Jaime to connect with, just a deep sadness that she had been willingly marching to her death, and hadn't thought much beyond that. Now, there's a lot more to her that Jaime's grown to know and deeply appreciate. He loves to needle her like an older sister, and he'll incessantly tease her if not only for the fact that she can get so cranky about things. She gives as good as she gets and is, quite frankly, hugely tolerant of Jaime. He has a fondness for her that even surprised him, but he's happy for it.

Kitty Jones is the most straightforward enigma Jaime's ever met. She has a decent core to her, he thinks, forceful in her beliefs, and when she says something, she takes great pains to stand behind it one hundred percent. She enjoys lecturing and enjoys feeling morally superior (acceptable, he supposes, because it's not as if she behaves against her moral code), but for all that security, Kitty can be wildly unpredictable in action. Getting kidnapped by the Hornets? Yikes! In all, Jaime likes Kitty, he truly does -- he just finds her overwhelming sometimes, the fate of the slow and steady against an overwhelming force. He's a little scared for her, though, because going on and on like that is an easy way to get burned, and she has an aversion to groupwork that could easily be her undoing. He hopes she'll learn to embrace teamwork like he has, and when she does, he'll be more than happy to help, no matter which uniform he has on. If she gets home, he hopes she gets her wish, and gains the equality she's fighting for. She's a good reminder that not all good people are the sort to take a backseat.

Roomie, and a sweet kid who's had kind of a shitty life. Jaime welcomed him into his home with open arms, and honestly, he thinks that Roxas is a really nice guy. He's got an eye out for him, and he'd like to show him what it's like to have a normal life in a few respects -- if he can help, he will. He's always enjoyed taking people under his wing and showing them what they were missing back home, and Roxas is no exception. He's been through a lot, but he doesn't seem to waste too much time grinding himself into the ground because of it. He likes that.

Jaime really likes Superman, and that's not only because he's, well... Superman. He's always treated him like an equal, even when Jaime only knew him as Clark Kent, and the fact that his words actually seem to hold some weight for Clark means an awful lot. Jaime appreciates what he's accomplished and what he's trying to accomplish, but what he respects even more is the fact that Clark had been willing to own up to a mistake and apologize for it, even as Jaime had been mildly horrified at speaking up in the first place. He's still not 100% comfortable around Clark - he doesn't truly know the man, does he? - but he likes him an awful lot, and respects him too. He knows their conversations always end up taking odd, strangely serious turns, but he appreciates Clark's candor, honesty, and willingness to chase down the truth. He's just a little worried that he must seem awfully strange to Clark. Why else would all their conversations be so strange?

Deep down in Jaime's heart, Will will always be That Weird Guy In The Corner With Bucket Macaroni, but he thinks it fondly. Will's a decent guy. He's nice enough to attend Sasha's party, to reach out with distracting niceties when Jaime's suffered a loss, delights in awful puns, and has what is quite possibly the best dog in the world... maybe. Gunther has some pretty stiff competition these days. Either way, Jaime really does appreciate Will, and feels terribly that he has to deal with Freddie's murder. Hang in there, dog-man! He's sorry you had to let go of your fishing days.

Hiro is a reckless kid genius who just happened to be something of a superhero - even if Big Hero Six isn't the kind of name you can go by solo - back home. He has an inherent distrust of authority figures, a willingness to experiment and improvise to occasional disastrous ends, and a cocky disregard that only kid geniuses really seem to develop. Jaime likes him, though he does worry him; seeing him in the midst of danger made him want to pass the kid a bike helmet and ask him to stay out of the way. There's a tragic past in there too, he just knows it, because no kid is just instinctively angry with all of adult-kind. He's glad he's got Tadashi around, but he'll keep an eye out for him anyway. Who knows? Jaime may just learn a thing or two.

Tadashi - Hiro's big brother - is another one of Personacrew's roommates, and though he's only spoken to him a couple of times, he's glad for it. Tadashi is easygoing, friendly, and quite possibly one of the nicer people Jaime's met (and he's met a lot of very nice people!). They could use that sort of calm, steady presence in their lives, which is something Jaime suspects Tadashi provides for Hiro too. He likes going over to Personahouse, so hey, maybe they can be friends.

To discuss Ken, one first needs some context: Jaime learned that Ken's mother perished in an accident involving Shinji, that he wanted to kill Shinji (one of Jaime's very best friends), and Shinji wound up dead trying to protect him. Shinji doesn't want to talk about it, warned against mentioning Shinji to Ken, and Ken doesn't seem too happy talking about it either. The logical choice here is to leave the kid alone, so obviously Jaime does the exact opposite. Ken is a sad case, but instead of a tragedy waiting to happen, Jaime hopes that Shinji's sacrifice means that he's an averted tragedy. He obviously has a strong sense of justice and fairness, and with it comes a heck of a lot of guilt, self-blame and burden on top of burden. He doesn't seem to have any friends his age, and very little joy in his life, and that's, quite frankly, not right. Jaime thinks he's an astoundingly mature and brave kid, but he's still a kid, and he deserves to work past this and to work towards happiness. If Jaime can help him, even in small ways, he'll be there. Ken deserves it.

It takes a very special person to be the one to connect SEES together, and now that he's getting to know Minato properly, he knows for a fact that Minato is that special sort of person. He's deadpan, certainly, but there's no doubting a big, empathetic heart in there -- who else has all that room to try to love and guide the people he has? Minato is a leader who's had to sacrifice himself for the good of the world, for a lot in life he had never asked for but had - as Jaime recently learned - been born with. Others would leave the world to burn, but Minato has willingly taken the plunge, and doesn't seem all that torn up about it. Jaime respects him, but he thinks that when Ken confided in him that Minato needs someone who doesn't see him as a leader to lean on, he was saying the absolute truth. Minato's had a hard life, and doesn't show much vulnerability for it. Maybe he can't turn to the rest of SEES for help, but maybe Jaime can lend a hand to the person who helped his friends so much...?

aka ghost dick. Yomiel possessed Jaime back during his wild crime spree, and Jaime still holds one hell of a grudge about it. For all his anger and distrust, however, what he feels for Yomiel basically boils down to intense pity - nobody should feel that much desire for death, no matter who they are. He does hope that he gets to find his peace one day - and that he won't be messing with anyone else in the meantime.

One of his nearest and dearest from back home, Brenda turned Heropa from a place that he barely tolerated into a place that feels a little like home. He'll pick on Brenda incessantly and tease her all the live long day, but he absolutely adores her and would go to the moon and back for her - and just as importantly, she'd do the same for him. He can lean on her. He doesn't have many people like that in Heropa.

Jaime had first met Elsa after Yomiel's crimespree, and he has a lot of tenderness in his heart for her - she seems to be a very sweet young woman, but her powers have come with a lot of baggage, which is something Jaime can absolutely relate to. He knows by now that she had hurt someone with her powers very, very badly before, and hopes that she'll be able to make peace with them, and soon.

What to do about Conner Kent? Jaime knew he was Kryptonian from the very first turn, thanks to the Scarab, and he's still not sure what to think of the guy. He's nice enough when he's just chatting (though he does have something of an odd perspective on things), but the first time they met in costume, he had been dealing with some serious anger issues. Jaime likes him well enough, but he's not sure if he'd actually trust him on a mission.

As Yuri, Jaime thinks that he's stuck-up, condescending, and probably too stuck in his own ways... but not a bad guy, when it comes down to it. He doesn't like him, but his good nature has kept him from making any further judgments. As Lunatic, Jaime just thinks he's batshit insane and anticipates having to keep an eye out for him to take him down one day. UPDATE: Yuri spoke out in favour of the commercialization of Heroes. He still doesn't outright dislike Yuri, but he sure as hell doesn't respect him, mostly because he feels that imPorts are objectified enough as it is. They don't need any more help on that front.

As the local public school's football coach, Jaime knew of Flash before he actually met the guy... and when he did, he wasn't disappointed. Flash did the uncommonly decent thing of both visiting him in prison and, despite all evidence to the contrary, believing in his innocence, which meant more to him than Flash likely knew. As Venom, he's just another cape - a bit scary looking, but friendly enough.

Jaime is much, much fonder of Alphonse than he will ever know despite the fact that they really haven't spoken that much. As odd as his lot may be, and as odd as the midnight texts may be, Alphonse is interested in the Scarab and has been nothing but kind to it, something for which Jaime's grateful. He knows the Scarab doesn't understand loneliness, but it's not right for any one being to have just one friend, and with Alphonse around, maybe that won't be the case for it anymore. (The midnight texts are kind of annoying, though.)

Jaime's not entirely certain where he stands with Skye, mostly because he's spoken with her underneath both identities, and he's having a hard time keeping them straight. Either way, he likes Skye and enjoys her company whenever they end up chatting, even if he thinks she could use a lesson or two in self-etseem 101. He thinks she's a lot cooler than she gives herself credit for, and she should probably listen to him -- he's a superhero, after all! UPDATE: With Ward in town, Jaime made the executive decision of telling Skye that he's the Blue Beetle so she knows that she doesn't have a stalker when Jaime starts to hover around her. He's always got an eye out for her safety... something that doesn't necessarily work, seeing as she turned herself in for hacking into the government. He's totally in favour of her actions, though - whatever she's up to, he can't imagine it's against imPort interests.

Alex Louis Armstrong is a grade A weirdo. He's huge, he sparkles, and he tackles every task in front of him with a single minded sort of determination and optimism that things will work out for the best - and indeed, they did. Jaime thinks he's utterly bizarre, but he also thinks he's kind of great - there's no way he can't like a dude who rips off his shirt before punching a hole through a mountain to save kidnapped children. Alex Louis Armstrong, you're a man's man.

Jaime had thought that Annie was a girl like any other, hailing from a frankly awful world and trying to make her way through a new world. She had been kind to him, and had never seemed anything but decent... until she confessed to wiping out a third of humanity back in her own home. There's only so much room in Jaime's heart for forgiveness for relative strangers, so since then, he's regarded her and her comrades with frank suspicion, something he has made no effort at all to hide. UPDATE: Annie is obviously very, very interested in current events, and is more than capable of digging up information. He's not going out of his way to be friends with her, but they'll most certainly be cooperating in the future.

Jaime was aware of Armin before he actually met him, but his impression was a fairly neutral one. He was simply another poor soul from the Attack on Titan universe, compiling a FAQ for people from his universe. Not long after that, once Armin mentioned a few of the difficulties he had been having, Jaime offered a listening ear, and Armin accepted. Since then, Jaime's felt a lot of compassion for Armin and he hopes to reach out to him to try to help him cope with life, and more importantly, to help him settle down and actually try to enjoy his life here in Heropa. Armin could use a listening ear, but more than that, Jaime thinks he could use a couple more friends - and he can provide.

Jaime met Killua when he and Gon had requested a hoverboard over the network and had laboured underneath the impression that they were ordinary children for a grand total of two minutes after they met them. Killua is a flippant, carefree-seeming soul, but he soon learned that Killua's from a family of assassins. Just the thought of it makes Jaime's blood boil. Killua acts his age sometimes, and reaches out to warn people about potential dangers others, and to be frank, Jaime would like to see the former a lot more often. It didn't take him long to feel fiercely protective over him. UPDATE: Jaime is only learning more and more about Killua, and he's only started liking him more because of it... and feeling even more protective for it. He wants very badly for Killua to be able to enjoy a nice normal life for at least a small amount of time, and is willing to go to lengths to try to provide that for him. This poor kid!

Like Killua, Gon's status as an ordinary child didn't last too long. Funnily enough, Gon is much more of a mystery than Killua is, seemingly taking everything from multidimensional travel to potential sexual threats with a bright smile. He's not entirely certain what's going through Gon's head, but he's a sweet kid, and seems to have a good heart. He's keeping an eye out for him - someone has to. (Or at least someone who's not also twelve years old.)

Oliver Queen? Is kind of a mystery. His younger, memory-reversed self looked like a hobo but he seemed sweet enough, he's personable as a civilian, downright condescending and distrustful as a cape, and Barry Freakin' Allen doesn't want him to know that Jaime knows his secret ID because he's... scared of him? What a guy. Jaime's going to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's essentially a giant question mark in his head, and while he should probably keep it that way, his inexhaustible curiosity may just get the best of him one day. What's his deal?

Kate's one of those cases where Jaime's certain that he is about 100x more aware of her than she is of him. This is fine -- they haven't spoken enough for Jaime to get a good sense of her personality outside of business, or for them to even be friends, but she's such a huge presence over the network, and she's one that Jaime holds in extremely high regard. She doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk, and more importantly, has managed to compile and share a huge amount of information. He's always got one eye out for her, because he has a feeling that if you want something done, she's the right horse to back. He hopes he can be as good at not only the detective work, but sharing the detective work someday. Bravo, Kate Bishop, you're a marvel.

Oh, Tara. Jaime had first approached her because she was wandering around downtown swinging around a shotgun, and he'd wanted to try averting a big crisis out of uniform before something big happened -- big enough to make him have to power up to stop a public shooter. As it turns out, she's just from a zombie apocalypse and was freaking out about it! Whoops. Either way, she's had a vividly tragic life, and came away damaged from it in a way that Jaime can see crop up here and there. Survivor's guilt? Oh yeah. She uses levity to fend it off, but he thinks he can tell she's got a good soul underneath all that. He hopes life here is kinder to her, and that it helps her. Until then, they can continue shit talking each other. Why not?

Billy: Flexible winter work gloves & a blue blanket

Maya: (Stolen) data files for an abundance of samurai movies snuck on her tablet, a kitschy samurai sword umbrella, a too-large samurai hat but he sort of stuffed a touque inside to wear with it because Maya needs to dress more warmly.
Dist: A tiny gift package of nice smelling shampoo/conditioner/brush combo.
Phoenix: Obligatory chocolates ~~sorry dude he has no idea what you like~~
Blue: Scarf + ~calming herbal teabags~. He has doubts about the last one because it smells kind of funky but BLUE MIGHT LIKE IT?
Nathan: (Stolen) data files for books on mountains and mountain climbing (which will be delivered with anxious eyes because he has no idea whether or not Nate actually likes reading about it) & a couple Planet Earth videos. (Which are wasted on the tablet, but ooh, pretty). In case he doesn't like them, he also gets a small basket of practical food.
Kate: A scarf tied inexpertly around some coffee beans, with an attached note, typed out on strangely thin paper: You just seemed like a coffee kind of person. If not, hey, it's good for bartering! It's signed with the Blue Beetle symbol that Ted usefully used before him.
Collette: (when she returns) Food! And practical food at that - it's a small basket of crackers, meat & cheese with a tiny box of shortbread, the kind of stuff that will keep.
Peter: Peter, like Kate, gets some coffee beans and a scarf. (It's cold out, come on.)

The Masked:
- Clones, general enhanced abilities

The Cloned Children:
- Broken tanks found in the UE base on the date of the rescuing with signs of a struggle. The tanks were built to hold adults but it looks like the children got out early.
- Capable of sentient thought though the UE found it difficult to educate them properly in the tanks (the same way they were probably able to educate the Masked)
- Attacked only Transports on the battlefield so even if they did get out of their tanks early they must have had some sort of programming ahead of time -- drugs, mind control or just in their genes? (Magically created clones in another world had to do what their creator told them to even if they tried to resist)
- Had a maximum of nineteen days to be made but still looked about 7-10 years old
- At the time of the supervirus, the UE said that they had severely shortened lifespans
- Accelerated aging process until puberty. After that, it will take months for them to reach maturity.

- Popularity of cloning prior to the UE comes and goes

- Research backslid in the 3000s - until the UE came in, as far as I know
- More missions need to be done to get a good idea of the history and their tech

The Chimera Project:
-Majority of UE's funding went into this
-Have recently drawn their attention to other genetic projects in the hopes to make significant progress in this area well ahead of schedule.
-Is pre-existed by dozens of years by other such genetic projects. This one dovetailed with the colonization project between March and October last year
-First made to produce individuals capable of adapting to different environments as a part of their colonization project - also used for soldiers like the ones we saw
-Wanted to use people from other worlds for testing first, but they couldn't bring anyone back alive
-Started in 3312, before Elmer's world was destroyed but after one Transport got kidnapped (which probably gave them the idea in the first place)
-Clones moved to full tank growth at an accelerated rate, possible problems with stability
-Education was an issue with their quick growth

- UE targeted Exsilium's children before in the natal and pre-natal wings of the hospital for their 'imperfections'
- UE chooses the genetic makeup of their own children before they're born
- Corpses of failed clones found in the UE's morgue ranging from children to adults
- The corpses found were all autopsied and some were mutated
- None of the cloned children that people reported on were non-human, but there were non-human bodies in the morgue
- They're capable of bringing in people from our worlds, but not alive - but some clones are capable of resurrection. You can do the math there

Included in every copy of this package is a close up picture of one of the clone children. It's taken from Jaime's perspective - straight from his lenses - with both he and the clone flying above the chaos below. The clone is lunging towards him, the claw of his hand almost feral though his expression is obscured by his black visor. For all the aggression he's clearly showing, it's easy to see why Jaime could consider these children aside from their size. Beneath the armour, he's certainly got the body of a child, and his visible mouth looks soft and new.
