[When Jaime sees the username Tadashi Hamada on his phone, at first he reacts to it as casually as he would to any text from a close friend. Oh, they're texting me, wonder what they want...

But then the name registers, and his first thought isn't that Tadashi's back. Oh, no. His first thought is that something's gone wrong, someone's messing with him, because the people that he loves that have gone missing?

They don't come back. None of them have. Not for long. Maybe the communicator futzed and is showing wrong names in its database, or maybe it's Crane deciding to torment more teenagers, or maybe... maybe...]

This isn't funny.

[Well, whatever it is, he's not taking the bait. Screw whoever thinks that this is their good idea of a joke.]

[Wrong thing to open with. So something's definitely been happening besides what he's seen in the last month he browsed through the network.]

[Instead of anything else, Tadashi sends over a quick picture, a tired smile because he didn't expect to be back at just after midnight but it is him, one hundred percent.]

[Oh, god. No, no, he can't handle this right now, Tadashi, this is not how he thought he'd find this out. Not that he isn't happy - he's thrilled! - but he can't respond right now, not when it's like looking at a ghost.

Which is to say, his reaction is less than cogent.]

Out the window. They assigned me to Heropa this time.

[If Jaime looks out the front window, Tadashi's just on the sidewalk, looking down at his phone while he texts Magicman too. Boy this is an Interesting night.]

[Okay, he's looking out of his window, eyes bugging out. Clearly he was getting ready for bed - his hair seems to be standing straight up, which is what happens when he runs his hands through it, and he's in ratty old sweatpants and an oversized T-shirt - but that doesn't seem to bug him much as he leans halfway out of the window, trying to get a better look at him.

And yeah, that's Tadashi.

The sane thing to do would be to just, you know, walk the thirty extra steps needed to run downstairs and through the door, but somewhere in Jaime's lizardbrain, something is telling him if you don't get him as soon as possible he'll just disappear again.

Which means that the next time Tadashi looks up, his stupid friend will be halfway down the wall of the side of his house, because that's the sane way of dealing with reuniting. Tadashi won't have long to think about it, however, because as soon as his bare feet hit the ground, he's got one shorty launching himself at him, arms wrapped around his neck in a stranglehold of a hug.]
