Honestly...It's not entirely clear. It's not like pulling out their soul means they're dead on their feet or anything like that - I guess it deprives him of his sense of morality, to an extent, and it makes him largely unable to empathize with others. Makes him less able to love people.

Anyway, my friend wasn't being attacked. Or, well, he WAS, but attacked verbally, you know. Not physically. It was emotional self-defense, I suppose. So the act itself isn't bad, I think, except that, well, now he's refusing to return his soul.
